Edward Weston

Happy Birthday Edward Weston!! American photographer, Edward Weston was born in 1886, in Illinois and spent most of his youth in Chicago. After receiving a camera from his father when he was 16, he began taking photos of the Chicago parks as well as his aunt's farm. Working as a surveyor, he moved to California in 1906, where he met his wife. He met Paul Strand, Alfred Stieglitz, and Georgia O'Keefe, following which he rejected pictorialism and began to focus instead on nudes, compositions of close-up views of fruits, vegetables, and common household items. Parkinson's disease prevented him from continuing with his work in 1948. The Pepper, below was photographed in 1930.
